‘Smile of the Mask’ receives nom at Couch Film Festival

Iranian short flick ‘Smile of the Mask’ has received a nomination at the spring edition of the Couch Film Festival (CouchFF) in Canada.

Abbas Ghazali’s film has been nominated for the Best Experimental award at the “5:01-10:00 Minutes” category of the CouchFF.

‘Smile of the Mask’ is about acid attacks. It was filmed last year in Turkey.

“This was not my dream,” a synopsis for the film reads.

Ghazali is a popular young actor. He has also appeared in a number of series, including ‘The Redemption’ and ‘Like a Mother’.

The Couch Film Festival is “a quarterly event committed to highlighting and showcasing the very best short and feature films from around the globe”, the event’s website reads.

According to the CouchFF’s website, the March 31st screening has been cancelled due to the coronavirus restrictions, but the winners will be announced as scheduled on March 31st.
